Dear Dr Mbadiwe,
I have terrible news for you.
Your friend and colleague, Murray Grey, has had a terrible accident. I have enclosed some newspaper cuttings that will tell you as much as we here know so far.
When we heard the news I entered his office and found your fax on his machine and have taken the liberty to inform you of the awful course of events.
I am sure that you will be as distressed as we are.
