The friar was feeling that he was sinking further and further into something that he just didn't understand. The messages from Mr Justice always confused him. “Why can't he say something simply” asked the friar of the computer. The computer, if it knew at all, did not respond.

The friar wrote:

Dear Mr Justice,

I am happy for you, happy to hear that your box is working again.

I too am feeling that things will proceed to a truly splendid conclusion, and soon too. I am falling to that all too common human frailty of spending the money in my mind, where commonsense would ask, nay demand, that I wait until this bird is firmly grasped in my hand. But it will be soon, I am sure.

You give me much amusement when you say that there is nothing difficult to understand in your language but I must point out that you are clear in your mind what you are writing. I am not so clear in my mind what you have written! But I am getting there.

I will go to the city tomorrow to find one of these Western Unions. What is meant with the control numbers and the security question and answer? Do I need to get these from you?

Please answer this urgently.

Yours in Christ,

Friar Augustus Tuck

This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went through the land of Egypt:
where I heard a language that I understood not.

-Psalms 81:5

“Let's see what that brings! ” he said and went out into the hallway in search of his sandal.
