Silence from downtown Lagos. I wait a week before writing a pathetic 'what is happening' letter.

Dear Charles,

A friend tells me that there have been a number of epidemics going through west Africa of late. Plus malaria is on the rise again.

Are you alright?

You have gone so quiet. I fear that either I have offended you or that you are unwell. Both scenarios cause me much distress. I have no desire to needlessly offend you and I certainly do not wish any illness upon you.

The faxes that you referred to have not come. And you do not answer my emails. It is most disturbing.

What are we to do now?

Is this transaction doomed? Should I forget about it?

Please tell me,

Cosmo.
